Drawing inspiration from topiary art sculptures, the designers at Maison Forestier in Paris aim to bring botanical artistry into the home through lighting design. When Bernard Forestier founded Maison Forestier in 1992, he drew inspiration from French-style gardens. He was captivated by how nature and design merged in the grand hedges and sculpted trees. With these majestic French creations still fresh in his mind, he set to work creating lamps using rusty metal wire, zinc, and iron. Today, the company operates as a design collective, where designers have complete creative freedom, as long as they challenge and reinvent traditional designs. Nonetheless, Forestier’s artists still frequently incorporate wire and the element of transparency into their lamp creations.
