The new Bonbori collection, created by the world-famous Japanese designer Fumie Shibata, is available in indoor and outdoor variants. The light is inspired by the traditional paper lamps that line the pathways of shrines and temples during Japan’s annual rice paddy harvest festivals. In Japanese, the word bonbori not only denotes this traditional form of lighting, but also describes the soft light coming from a snowy cave. The new light uses a simple stainless steel base finished with an eco-friendly powder coating. The easily removable LED light source casts a gentle glow through a diffuser and laser-cut openings in the stainless steel. The resemblance to the traditional bonbori lamp is achieved with an elegant hand-blown glass lampshade, an extraordinary piece made with multiple layers of carefully modeled glass.
